Iroquois hounds are named using the first two letters of their mothers name. The date next to their name is the year they first hunted. Usually they are at least 12 months old before their first season. A hound always carries the name of the hunt where they were entered. So, even though Stifle was bred at the Cottesmore hunt she will always be Iroquois Stifle because she began her hunting career at Iroquois.
